Am I a Candidate for ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect aligners are a good choice if your teeth are crowded, crooked, misaligned, or if you have a dental malocclusion (bad bite). ClearCorrect is particularly effective if you have a serious overbite, rotated teeth, or excessive gaps in your teeth. There are lots of treatments to improve the spacing, alignment, and dental bite; however, ClearCorrect has additional benefits. The clear aligners make it difficult for others to tell you are wearing an orthodontic appliance. The aligners are also removable so they can be taken out when you eat, clean your teeth, and for special events. When you visit our office for a ClearCorrect consultation, Dr. Walker will explain all your orthodontic choices and answer all of your questions to determine whether ClearCorrect is the best method for you.

You may be a good candidate for ClearCorrect if your teeth are crowded, crooked, misaligned, or if you have a dental malocclusion (bad bite). ClearCorrect is especially effective when you have a severe overbite, rotated teeth, or even excessive gapping. The clear aligners make it hard for other people to see that you are wearing orthodontics. The aligners are also removable so they can be taken out when you eat, clean your teeth, and also for special occasions.

When you choose ClearCorrect, Dr. Walker will take x-rays of your teeth and jaw and impressions that will be used to make your aligners. Once we receive your aligners, a team member will call you to schedule a fitting. You can expect to make appointments every two weeks. In these appointments, Dr. Walker will check on your progress and issue replacement aligners as your teeth and bite move. If you damage or lose an aligner, just give us a call and we will have a new aligner made so you're able to progress with your treatment without waiting for your next appointment. Depending upon the condition of your teeth and the amount of correction required, your prescribed orthodontic care could take 12 – 24 months (about eight stages of treatment). It is also extremely important to keep your teeth and your ClearCorrect aligners clean so you do not end up with tooth decay. Brushing your teeth, flossing, and using mouthwash once you remove the aligners is a fantastic habit to start with. You should also rinse or clean the aligners before putting them back into your mouth.

As soon as your treatment is finished, you may need to wear a retainer to help keep your teeth from going back to their original place. You must continue to schedule annual dental exams at Pipe Creek Dental Center so Dr. Walker can check up on your bite, alignment, and overall dental health.

About Us
Do ClearCorrect aligners hurt?
Wearing ClearCorrect aligners will not hurt. You may experience mild soreness as your teeth adjust to the trays, but this is minor and should resolve quickly. Over-the-counter pain medications may be taken to control the discomfort.
How do I care for my ClearCorrect aligners?

Caring for your ClearCorrect aligners is straightforward. It's essential to clean them regularly with a soft-bristled toothbrush and rinse them in lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the plastic. Additionally, maintaining good oral hygiene and removing the aligners while eating or drinking anything other than water is crucial.

How often should ClearCorrect aligner trays be changed?
Most patients will get a new tray every 2 – 4 weeks. Follow-up appointments are generally scheduled every two weeks.
Will ClearCorrect aligners affect my speech?

Some patients may notice a slight adjustment period with their speech after first wearing ClearCorrect aligners. This is typically temporary, and most people quickly adapt to the aligners. Practicing speaking with the aligners in can help accelerate this adjustment period.

How long do ClearCorrect aligners need to be worn?
Most patients will need to wear their ClearnCorrect aligners for 12 – 24 months. For optimal results, it is recommended that you wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day. Treatment times will depend on the severity of your individual needs and vary for each patient.
What happens after I complete my ClearCorrect treatment?

Once you complete your ClearCorrect treatment, it's important to maintain the results. Typically, this involves wearing a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position. Your dentist at Pipe Creek Dental will provide specific instructions and recommendations for aftercare to ensure the longevity of your beautiful, straightened smile.
